If you are on the more creative side then you can also purchase basket supplies to make your own basket.  Many craft stores have basket kits that you can purchase to create your own basket of any size.  If you are unable to find one, or want to start completely of scratch then you can do that as well.  A basket can be compiled out of a number of different materials and you can find them at any craft or home supply store.  You can weave a basket out of any form or reed or wicker material.  You can also weld a basket of metal or wire.  Wooden baskets can be carved from one sole piece of wood, or compiled of many different pieces.  You can also make your basket whatever size you want so that it can be used as you wish. 

All woven baskets have three main elements that will ensure your basket is formed correctly and as durable as possible; the base, the side walls, and the rim.  The base can be made of wood or woven out of the same material as the basket.  You can form or cut it in any shape or size that you want and it will allow you to make the basic form of your basket.  Side walls must be connected to the base, they are usually compiled of sturdier wood or reeds.  Your side walls need to be as long as you wish your final product to be tall.  The more sidewalls your provide for your basket, the more sturdier it will be when it’s complete.  You can begin by getting a loose reed , that can be either flat or round, and weaving it through the side walls.  You should follow the pattern of under one side wall, over the next around and around the basket.  The tighter you pull the reeds and the closer each layer is to the next will make it more durable when it is complete.   Once you near the top of the sidewalls you can stop your weaving.  You must then attach the tops of the side walls to a rim that is similar to the shape of the base but much larger.  Once the rim is attached you can continue weaving until you reach it.  And you now have a finished woven basket.
